1. Raised by a father who worked too hard
\nHe was too young when he left the yard
\nSheep to tend and wool to card
\nPlanting potatoes with a meadow lark to guard<\/p>\n

2. Driving a wagon loaded with hay
\nStretching and sweating all through the day
\nAll for virtually zero pay
\nAll the time hearing the meadow larks say<\/p>\n

3. On horseback riding to school
\nthe water tank became summer’s pool
\nAt 14 a car was way beyond cool
\nLiving up to being the meadow lark’s jewel<\/p>\n

4. College basketball games with Dad
\nWorking together made him glad
\nThere was not time to chase a fad
\nExcept to listen as the meadow lark had<\/p>\n

5. Soon graduating from BAC
\nHoward went to Utah State University
\nThen he returned for good to Cedar City
\nTo hear the meadow lark and to see<\/p>\n

6. The farm always returned to him
\nEnough to fill up to life’s rim
\nHe loved meat packing and farming
\nAnd to hear the meadow lark’s hymn<\/p>\n

Let’s all come together like farmers in the valleys of the temple district have over the decades and celebrate this timestone.<\/p>\n
