The extended version shows Halle, Taylor, Colby, and Melanie, who had evacuated from Vidor to our house, because of hurricane Ike. This photo of Andrea was taken 11 days after I wrote this song. A lot of my songs have a theme or two running through them, with 4 lines per verse, where many of the lines end with rhyming words. Sometimes the meaning of a verse gets skewed because of the effort to find rhyming works. This song kind of fits this mold. \u201cGlove\u201d and \u201cabove\u201d rhyme with \u201clove.\u201d \u201cLong\u201d rhymes with \u201csong.\u201d \u201cShoes\u201d rhymes with \u201cyou.\u201d \u201cLast\u201d rhymes with \u201cglass\u201d and \u201cfast.\u201d \u201cAround\u201d rhymes with \u201cpound.\u201d \u201cBlue\u201d and \u201ctrue\u201d rhyme with \u201cyou.\u201d The themes include protective clothing, like \u201ca glove\u201d and \u201cshoes,\u201d and the basis of living: \u201clife,\u201d \u201cwalking through broken glass,\u201d \u201cmy heart pounds,\u201d \u201cknow it beats for you,\u201d and \u201cknow it\u2019s true.\u201d I have sung this a couple of times for friends, and it gets a laugh. I like it, and like all of my songs, it expresses what is in my heart.<\/p>\n
