Andrea and I are serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Europe Central Area (ECA). Part of our assignment is to help members who want to improve their job. I had a young man, raised in the church, I was working with. He got engaged and planned to be sealed in the Swiss Temple. So we arranged to join them for the sealing. We were the only non-family friends at the sealing. It was special. It was also an excuse to visit one of my missionary companions.
Bruno Steinle and his wife Annelies, live close to the temple. Last time we visited them with Rachel, was 05 June 2006. In their book I said it would not be another 32 years until we would come back. It was only 19 years. We have changed, and yet we have not changed. One of the exciting parts of our visit is Bruno did some genealogy research and found how the Stuki’s, who moved to Santa Clara in 1962 with the Swiss Saints, had an ancestor who is a common ancestor to both of us. Bruno found where their house was when they joined the church. He also found a small stream they probably used to be baptized in. Switzerland is beautiful. It was a very special day we spent with Bruno & Annelies. She gave me some crocheted slippers, which I wear almos every night, remembring our friendship and our wonderful visit.
